Go Green Week: Day three! How unbearably fun! Get it?

Travel was the key theme for Go Green Week today!

Following up from yesterday I have spoken to Aramark the canteen at The University of Worcester about their vegan alternatives. They have a large selection of vegetarian options daily, they offer gluten and dairy free food also, and  have catered for many vegan corporate functions. They  welcome accommodating for vegans just ask at the canteen and they can provide a vegan lunch. Many meals you can create yourself, there is humus, bread and a variety of salad which is perfect for any vegan lunch, might not want it every day mind.

Back to the antics of today…

The SU took Pearl  our adopted Polar Bear out and about! why a Polar Bear, to draw attention to climate change, global warming and the need to reduce energy. Our aim is to reduce carbon emissions in order to keep the ice caps of Pearls home from melting! Pearl helps highlight the SU’s 2 year energy saving camping in student houses Energize Worcester, as well as making a lovely mascot!

Pearl even jumped on a bus ride, introducing herself to the local community! The nursery children at the university greeted Pearl with their hand made Polar Bear hats, and waved ‘Bye’ to Pearl as she hopped on the local bus!

Pearl, a group of students and I wanted to let people know about the positive contributions the students at the University of Worcester have made to not only the university itself but the whole of Worcester! We did this by chatting to the local residents on the bus. They were all keen to know about our projects such as of Go Green Week and wanted to know more about making their own lives more sustainable as one household saved over £700 in their energy bills last year through becoming part of Energize Worcester. People on the 31b loved hearing that Worcester uni was second place in the university ‘Green League’.

Today Every student at the University of Worcester was able to buy a promotional bus offer today in order to reduce car use, which is a great idea! Students also love the university bike loan scheme, and were able to ride an electric bike today at the university! Below you can see Pearl had a blast!
