Students, staff and members of the community are invited to get involved in monitoring wildlife across our campuses.
All you have to do is download the iNaturalist app onto your phone from your usual app store, make an account and start registering records.
If you see a wildflower, butterfly or any other form of nature, snap a photo to create a record and the app will help with the rest.
Using your photo, the app will try to help you to identify the species, so don’t worry if you’re not sure what you’ve photographed!
It will automatically record the date and your location, for mapping the record. Once your record is submitted, members of the iNaturalist community will help to check that your record is correctly identified.
You can explore your records on our iNaturalist campus biodiversity project map and discover other species documented by fellow recorders.
Your records will not only go towards monitoring campus biodiversity and helping us to evaluate our habitat management; they will also contribute to the national biodiversity dataset, which is instrumental in helping researchers track biodiversity changes nationally and internationally.
There will also be some nature activities on campus that you can get involved in:
