Linking Rail, Nature and Mental Health
We’re excited to launch a new series of nature‑connected walking routes designed to connect people, rail travel and the restorative power of nature. These nature-guided walks for mental well-being start and finish at local train stations, making them easy, low‑carbon, and fun to join. Whether you’re looking for a short break in your day or a longer, refreshing adventure, the programme offers both 1‑hour and 3‑hour options across Worcestershire.
These nature‑based wellbeing activities are part of a wider commitment to support mental wellbeing through time outdoors. Research continues to show that spending time in green spaces can reduce stress levels and improve mood, while walking with others helps build community and confidence. By linking railway stations directly to local nature routes, we hope to make that experience more widely available.
Each event is free to attend, and we invite staff and students to sign up and take part. Below is the full list of upcoming walks, with links to register.

Why Join a Wellbeing Walk?
These walks are an opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with the environment. Starting at train stations encourages low‑carbon travel, and each route has been designed to highlight local green corridors, waterways and parks. Whether you’re familiar with the area or exploring a station for the first time, you’ll discover new routes and hidden natural spaces.
Walking as a group also helps build a sense of belonging. Many participants find that gentle conversation, shared paths and a relaxed pace make it easier to unwind after a busy day. The walks are led by friendly guides who will support the group and ensure everyone feels welcome.
