Education for Sustainable Development

The survey highlights strong student demand for greater sustainability integration in education, with 46% of students feeling their courses address environmental impacts, yet 49% reporting that climate change has not been covered. While 62% feel their institution encourages environmental action, there is room for improvement, especially in non-science courses where 76% of students want sustainable development incorporated.

“There is a gap between young people’s interest in sustainability and the ability of academic institutions to nurture this interest.”

Worcester Students’ Union acknowledges students’ desire for more support in integrating education for sustainable development and will collaborate with academic representatives to amplify student voices in championing this cause.

University Actions on Sustainability

Seventy percent of students felt proud to study at a university taking steps to limit environmental harm.
