Part 5: The public of Worcester were happy to hear this announcement about the University

The main aim of these videos were to tell the public about what the university does for the community, but more importantly for sustainability.

We gave out leaflets with bullet points summarising what we do, these included drinking tap water, using double-sided photocopying and using Skype and telephones for meetings – The elderly citizens joked that that’s great, but not for “old fogies” like them because they don’t know how to use technology!

However they took our tips on board and even said that they would be useful to bear in mind for the future.

The public were very impressed and thought it was so lovely that the students went out of their way to talk to them.

One lady even asked if we wanted some money, which we regrettably declined!

The day was fun and we achieved our aim of spreading the word of what the university does regarding sustainability and it even made the news!

You’re probably dying to ask – Why do we have a polar bear?

Well polar bears like Pearl can’t bear the sight of all their snowy memories and properties simply slip away into a mushy mess of misery because of climate change. If we reduce our energy at the university, we reduce our carbon footprints and we also reduce Pearl’s beloved home turning into a puddle.

Luckily for Pearl, the Students’ Union have adopted her to help her survive, eat, and make… other little Pearls.

These videos made me laugh! Great job. Do you think Pearl the Polar Bear could come visit Arkansas?

Classic! So what happened after the bus journey? Was Pearl adopted, met another polar bear, or put in hibernation for next year!?
Great way to get interest in the event and yes we should be getting the message out about the University’s green credentials – good job guys!
