The main aims of the event were:

  • To introduce this new Network, its focus, partnership approach and membership.
  • To provide case study examples of how education institutions have worked with and impacted on businesses in research related to sustainability.
  • To develop and enhance leadership and skills both internally and across other sectors.
  • To allow delegates to feed into the future priorities of the Network and to identify collaboration opportunities with fellow attendees and other sectors.

The workshop marked the launch of a new Midlands Sustainability Network for Further and Higher Education Institutions, this was run in partnership with the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC), covering the West and East Midlands and Sustainability West Midlands.  It focused on how Universities and Colleges can engage with businesses around the issue of sustainability and also bring together colleagues from FE/HE institutes across the region to make connections and to help shape the future direction of the network.
